  • The repeater is licenced to operate anywhere in Victoria.
  • The Scout Radio & Electronics Service Unit use the repeater to assist with health and welfare communications for large scouting events such as Hoadley Hide and Scouthike. These events attract around 1000 participants and many support personnel and the repeater is a vital resource.

  • The repeater has an output power of 12 Watts.
  • When portable, VK3RSR is powered from a 12 Volt sealed lead acid battery.
  • When portable, the repeater is positioned at a high site within the activity area chosen to give good mobile coverage of the activity.
  • The repeater uses a 3 section Hills telescopic mast and separate antennas for transmit and receive.

  • When not in use for scouting events the repeater is located in Wattle Glen, a north-eastern suburb of Melbourne.
  • From here it offers good coverage to the north and north east of Melbourne.

  • VK3RSR is able to be linked to our other portable repeater VK3RSS.
  • The repeater was built by Peter VK3ZPF and Luke VK3EM.
