VK3RSS

- VK3RSS is a portable amateur radio repeater operated by the
Scout Radio & Electronics Service Unit.
- The repeater is licenced to operate anywhere in Victoria.
- The Scout Radio & Electronics Service Unit use the repeater to
assist with health and welfare communications for large scouting
events such as Hoadley Hide and Scouthike. These events attract
around 1000 participants and many support personnel and the repeater
is a vital resource.

- The repeater transmits on 439.975 MHz and receives on 434.975 MHz and
uses vertical polarisation.
- The repeater has an output power of 25 Watts.
- VK3RSS is powered from a 12 Volt sealed lead acid battery.
- When portable, the repeater is positioned at a high site within the
activity area chosen to give good mobile coverage of the activity.
- The repeater uses a 3 section Hills telescopic mast and 3 dB colinear
antenna.
- VK3RSS is able to be linked with our other portable repeater VK3RSR.
- The repeater was built by Andrew
