CQ – Teenaged Scouts, Venturers, Rovers, Girl Guides and Leaders.You are invited to attend a Radio Active weekend in Western Victoria.
Gain your Foundation amateur radio licence qualifications with some private study and a weekends training and assessment. This is the first stage of a life long hobby.
This course is a residential weekend for Scouts Australia & Girl Guides Australia Members. The weekend training course includes Saturday & Sunday meals, Bunk House Accommodation, full colour training manual and optional assessment.
Getting your first amateur radio licence is as simple as following the numbers
Step 1 – Apply for the course via Scout Extranet. Course Code # 105471
Step 2 – Receive and read the training book before the course
Step 3 – Attend the training course
Step 4 – Sit the theory and practical assessment (Optional)
Step 5 – Apply for your licence (Optional)
What: Theory and Practical Training includes colour hand book for pre-reading prior to the course.
– Optional Assessment opens the pathway to
Amateur Operators Certificate of Proficiency (Foundation).
Who: Scouts (Teenage), Ventures, Rovers, Leaders and our Girl Guide friends welcome (direct application accepted).
Where: Where: Cooinda Burrong Scout Camp (Western Victoria). (Bunk House) accommodation available.
When: 15 – 17 September (Move in Friday evening). Applications Close 27 August.
Catering: will be provided from Saturday breakfast to Sunday Lunch, other meals by arrangement. please advise any special requirements.
What are the costs? – Training Course including Handbook, food and bunkhouse accommodation, cost $105.
You may opt-in and complete the WIA Assessments, select your own callsign and take up your first Amateur Radio License. Exam $35 (U18) or $70 (Adult) plus optional ACMA license fees *1 Theory/practical radio exam is optional on Sunday afternoon. Please talk to Philip for more details.
Successful Scouts, Venturers, Rovers and Leaders will be entitled to apply for and wear the Amateur Radio Badge *1. The course may contribute to other awards on the successful completion of the course.
